of Christopher Morley. Morely is important not only because he
founded the Baker Street Irregulars, but because of his stature as
a writer and person of his time.
His essay "Was Sherlock Holmes an American?" first appeared in
1934 but it has enjoyed a life far beyond its original appearance.
And it sets the tone for how interested and invested Sherlockians
can make something of a Trifle.
